
‘Lapland’, a comedy about family lies and conflicts
The Condal Theater recovers on the billboard Laplanda comedy of Cristina Clemente and Marc Angelet It explores the boundaries between truth and lies, while highlighting family conflicts in a context of unexpected traditions and revelations. Released in 2019, the show returns with a new production directed by Nelson Valentte and a prominent cast formed by Míriam Iscla, David Bagés, Anna Sahun and Albert Prat.
The story is developed in a house in Finland during the Christmas holidays. Mònica and Ramon, accompanied by their son Martí, arrive at the home of Mònica’s sister, Núria, and their companion Olavi. What was to be a festive night and full of excitement is transformed into an intense debate about the truth and the lie when Aina, Núria’s daughter, reveals to Martí a news: Santa Claus does not exist. This discovery triggers a series of confrontations between the two families on how to educate their children and the family values that guide their lives.
Hidden truths and family lies
“ Sant Santa’s fight is an excuse to talk about traditions, family values and especially lies, from the most important to the most important, ” says Cristina Clemente, and adds that the lie, despite its negative nature, is a key tool in everyday life: “ At heart, we all keep great lies to feed the illusion of children, but we also lie to ourselves. ” Marc Angelet, co -author of the play, emphasizes the complexity of the characters: “The play shows four looks in front of a conflict and the viewer can empathize with the four characters.”
With Laplandthe authors seek to reflect on how the lies we say to others – and ourselves – can affect our relationships and our lives. A comedy of hooligan tone and with a vaudeville format that explores the truths hidden under the family lies.
One of the last montages of the long -awaited Capitol Club
The first production of Lapland premiered at Club Capitol in 2019, with another cast, which included Roger Comas, Meritxell Huertas, Meritxell Calvo and Manel Sans. That first version was well received by the public thanks, but a water leak forced its duties to be suspended. The closing of the longing space had just sentenced the return of the show to the billboard.
