Helena Garcia Melero jumps onto the stage
The journalist and presenter Helena Garcia Melero will debut on stage with The croquettes of the TVa family show that combines humor, music and gastronomy and which will premiere in 2027 at the Texas Theatre, under the direction of Marta Buchaca. The assembly is produced by NSN Mediathe production company driven by Jordi Basté i Andres Iniestawhich debuts with this project in the theatrical production.

Garcia Melero will share the stage with the popular character Tito and with a cast that includes Mireia Portas, Roc Bernardí, Jan Buixaderas, Tamara N’Dong i Elisenda Pinedawho will debut as a theater actress. The choreography will be from Peter Faurathe gastronomic advice of Ada Parelladaand the original music is by Guille Milkyway i Rigoberta Bandiniwith songs like I can’t believe it, The puzzle not solved or Mom, it’s okay.
The croquettes of the TV proposes a scenic adventure for all audiences that promotes the values of sharing, family and Catalan gastronomic culture. The dramatic axis revolves around a rivalry that is as everyday as it is symbolic: the classic roast croquettes against the mushroom croquettes, in a game that juxtaposes tradition and new perspectives without losing the sense of humor.
“I would never have imagined that I would end up defending a croquette on a stage”
“For many years I have been talking about current affairs, politics, society and everything that happens in the world, but I never imagined that I would end up defending a croquette on a stage”, he explains Helena Garcia Melerowho takes on the challenge with a mixture of self-deprecation and enthusiasm. “The theater has something very special: the live show is real, there is no network. And that, for someone who comes from television, is as dizzying as it is stimulating. In addition, if you do it surrounded by music, humor and laughing creatures, it makes even more sense.”
From the management, Marta Buchaca underlines the playful but also symbolic nature of the project. “We talk about sharing, sitting at the table, discussing – with love – whether the best croquettes are roast or mushroom croquettes. But deep down we’re talking about family, generations and how tradition and change coexist. And this, explained through play and humor, goes a long way.”
For Jordi Bastéproducer of the show, this theatrical debut of NSN Media it’s not accidental “We really liked making the jump to the theater with a proposal that wasn’t solemn, that was popular in the best sense of the word. And what’s more popular than a croquette? If this show gets someone to leave the theater hungry and wanting to talk to their family, we’ll be satisfied.” Basté admits, between laughs, that “the only really tense debate of the tests was deciding which croquette wins”.
Also Ada Parellada claims the gastronomic side of the assembly. “Here we don’t just talk about food, we talk about memory, home, Sundays and cooking made with time. Croquettes are a wonderful excuse to talk about how we take care of each other.” In a similar vein, Peter Faura he points out that “choreographing a croquet battle is probably one of the most surreal things I’ve ever done… and also one of the most fun.”
With this production, NSN Media begins his career in the theatrical world with a proposal designed for family audiences who want to convert the Texas Theatre in an intergenerational meeting space the 2027where entertainment is combined with an affectionate vindication of cuisine and traditions. An unexpected and carefree stage debut that confirms that, sometimes, the most surprising leaps are also made… towards the stage.
