Green Guerrilla: Moving Through Raval | Activity
We are participating in the Festival Raval(s) again this year. This time, the Gardens and Ecologies area will be filled with activities designed to bring the community closer to nature and urban ecology.
MACBA is joining in with a dynamic workshop on preparing seed bombsalso known as Nendo Dango. This reforestation technique originated in Japan in the early 20th century and became popular in the United States in the 1970s thanks to the Green Guerrillaswho stood up against property speculation. During the Raval Festival(s) this year, we will be sowing the seed bombs in various urban gardens. The aim is to introduce wild seeds to new areas and preserve the traditional species provided by the Botanical Garden, thus helping to safeguard Barcelona’s native plant heritage.
The activity will be accompanied by the rhythms of Xamfrà, as the band leads a group of residents through the streets of the Raval neighborhood, visiting three community gardens along the way. At each garden, participants will exchange seeds and get the opportunity to throw and sow seed bombs, sharing sustainability practices and community care in the process. The tour will end at the Rambla del Ravalwhere there will be a variety of activities related to urban gardens and eco-social transition.
