In this workshop, Shada Safadi, Palestinian artist in residence at teja, invited us to activate two pieces that are in fact two games: Memory of Wild Plants and Seed dominoes Allow Us to Talk About Plants and Seeds From the Golan Heights Region That Hav. This means they are left out of the productive circuit and properties, uses and traditions associated with theme have been lost.
The Games Memory of Wild Plants and Seed dominoes Invite participants to Rediscover and Reconnect Through Play with The Native Wild Plants of Palestine.
Each Game is inspired by botanical illustrations that was circulated duing the colonial campaign to control weeds in 1940 in Palestine. These “Weeds” are plants that at that time we are classified as harmful and attacked by industrialist agriculture, which hold ancestral profound, medicinal and ecological knowledge that has been passed down from generation to generation thousday use and narrative oral oral. By Relating the seeds to their plants, the names to their images and the patterns with memories, the Games Help to Restore a More intimate, Poetic Relationship with local flora.
