Fourth edition of the script residence of the Catalan Cinema Academy, which stops in Faberllull in Olot this week, coinciding with the beginning of the project. It is a script development laboratory for fiction and documentary feature films, the first such incubator in Catalonia, as well as the first to host projects in Catalan and guarantee its participation.
Within the framework of the script residence, the Catalan Cinema Academy accompanies 10 projects for 9 months. It offers stable mentoring and mentoring by prestigious professionals, workshops and master classes who help young talents to inspire and apply techniques. The accompaniment also has meetings with the industry and the distribution and festivals sector, as well as talks on topics such as sustainability or inclusion.
The script residence offers a scholarship that allows creators to concentrate on writing and thus accelerate the creation process, while promoting constant dialogue and exchange between participating projects. It also focuses on the importance of internationalization of projects through training and contact with the international industry.
The participants will be staying in Faberllull this week and will return to the final phase of the program, in the winter of 2026, with the much more advanced scripts.
The writers
In Faberllull they have come Francisco Kosteritz (Argentina) and Alex Sardàwho write The wild; Marta Duran (Cardedeu), who works in the script of The prayer of the beasts; Angel Giovanni Hoyos (Argentina), which focuses on the argument of The hijo of violence; Arianna Gimenez Beltran (Barcelona), who writes The threshold; William Manzanares (Barcelona), to elaborate the argument ofArcade; David Moragas (Almoster), which is scripted the film Fall; Gemma Blasco (Barcelona), who works with the story of Oil; Peace Look (L’Hospitalet de Llobregat), which focuses on the argument of I don’t know how to whistle like shepherds; Celia Giraldo (Cornellà de Llobregat), who writes La Niña Prodigio; and Mariona Martínez (Barcelona) and Núria Bestit (Barcelona), who write the script for the movie Where the dragonflies live.
Program of Activities
Until Friday, residents participate in various joint work sessions and also in individual interviews with mentors Carlos Marqués Marcet (Barcelona) and Mau Alena (Argentina). In these activities, the screenwriters tell their peers what they want to explain with their project, how they imagine the characters and what are the scenarios where the action takes place. The two mentors give them tips where to go and propose various dynamics to stimulate the creative of the writers.
The Residence is an initiative of the Catalan Film Academy with the help of associated writers of Catalonia – GAC, with the funding of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat – ICEC – Catalan Institute of Cultural Companies, the Barcelona City Council, Lady, ECIB – Barcelona Cinema School, the University of Vic – UVic, ESCAC, the Institut Ramon Llull and the Art and Nature Center of Farrera -Can.
