The experimental associationphotofestival is a non -profit cultural entity Activa from 2020dedicated to the creation, promotion and dissemination of experimental photography in all its forms. Was founded with the aim of building a International Artistic Community where creators can give themselves support each otherrelate to equal conditions and develop collective projects. We are interested in the experimentation As an essential tool for the exercise of freedom, Equality and creativity. Our work is based on the production of spaces for artistic production, critical reflection and the exchange of knowledge, where the proximity and dialogue Among artists around the world are central. We believe that the Artistic practices developed outside the canonespecially those rooted in marginal or peripheral contexts, are capable of challenging Dominant narratives and generate new imaginary. It Experimental Photography Festival It is the annual culmination of a collaborative process that extends throughout the year and brings together more than 300 international participants and photography lovers. During the festival, which takes place at the Pati Llimona Civic Center and the IEFC, participants from around the world are to share knowledge, present projects and co -create artistic experiences, fostering a sense of community based on horizontal collaboration, gender equality and creative freedom. The festival program, with more than 100 activities, is rich and multifaceted, and includes a wide variety of activities: inspirational conferences, project presentations, practical workshops and horizontal portfolio reviews, as well as individual and collective exhibitions that show the depth and diversity of experimental photographic practices.
Experimental hub It is the free and permanent exhibition space of the Experimental Photo Festival in Barcelona, where innovative proposals come together from all over the world. Located in the Mecal Factory of the neighborhood of the Poblenoupromotes collaboration between disciplines such as audiovisual art, illustration and music. Each year, they are selected six exhibitions through open callsoffering a curated platform so that both emerging and consolidated artists can show their work internationally.
Are also the organizers of the International Photography Festivals Association (IPFA)a global network that aims to Connect and organize more than 650 photography festivals that exist all over the world. The purpose of this initiative is to foster collaboration, innovation and professional growth in this area, and offer a Horizontal and inclusive platform so that directors of festivals, curators, producers and artists can be found to share knowledge, practices and resources.
As part of our continuous efforts for Promote international exchangewe have created Attica photo gallery located on the second floor of the Pati Lemona Civic Center. Dedicated to the cooperation between festivals, attic hosts six annual exhibitions for free from photography festivals from all over the world. The aim is to amplify various voices, encourage the circulation of works and foster a community Photographic more connected and innovative in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona.
Our last project is Ágora, Experimental Schoola online learning space inspired by theAncient Greek Agora—A place of meeting, dialogue and exchange. Founded in 2021, Ágora is dedicated to thecontinuous learningLa artistic creation and the Experimental knowledge compartmentguided by principles: Learn, create and share. In addition, Ágora offers artists the opportunity of ‘exhibit their works and to receive International feedbackalso becoming a space of growth, connection and visibility Within a global community. Their star program, the Diploma in Experimental Photographyis a course of ten months that covers 44 techniquesfrom creative photography and cyanotype to the Mordançage, Experimental cinema and Scanography. Participants access to workshops, Artists’ talks and specialized resources, turning Ágora in a Arena Global for the artistic growth and the connection.
