exhibition "Sergio Larrain. The vagabond of Valparaíso"
Sergio Larrain (1931–2012) was a singular figure in 20th century photography. A member of the Magnum Photos agency, he developed a deeply personal work, marked by a free, poetic and enigmatic look at street photography. Through shadows, reflections and unconventional framing, Larrain transformed everyday scenes into images of great visual and emotional intensity, where human presence and urban loneliness occupy a central place. The exhibition, produced by Magnum Photos and organized in collaboration with the Foto Colectania Foundation and the Xavier Miserachs Photography Biennial, is curated by Agnès Sire, director of the Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation between 2003 and 2022. The project is articulated in two complementary moments: a first presentation at Foto Colectania, and a retrospective from August in Palafrugell, as part of the Xavier Miserachs Photography Biennial. You can consult more information about the exhibition “Sergio Larrain. The vagabundo of Valparaíso” on the Foto Colectania Foundation website. Last update: 12/01/2026
