Exhibition “Rodoreda, a forest” | Gencat Cultural Agenda
The exhibition delves into theimagination of the Catalan writer and puts the radicality of her literature at the center. Curated by Neus Penalba, the exhibition proposes a journey through the great themes of his work, understanding them as a network of signifiers that, just like the roots and branches of a tree, extend into complex and intertwined ramifications of meaning.
The poetics of this great novelist of the 20th century is made of certain gestures that are repeated in stories and novels –spy, watch, watch die, cloud, drown, transform…–, houses with and without gardens abound, streets and squares, but above all it is full of trees and botanical tropes.
“Rodoreda, a forest” presents 400 piecesbetween plastic work (painting, drawing, engraving, sculpture, photography), artistic installations, documents and audiovisuals. The exhibition route brings Rodoreda’s literature into dialogue with the work of creators from various disciplines and different eras such as Remedios Varo, Pina Bausch, Marc Chagall, Leonora Carrington, Picasso, Suzanne Valadon, Ramon Casas, Fina Miralles, Joan Ponç, Tura Sanglas, Dora Maar, Toni Catany, Man Ray or Laia April
