In space Exhibition 1
Opening on Friday, January 10 at 7pm With a Kathak Fusion Dance Show by Daryā Dance
We begin the year with a double photography exhibition: “Kathak, the dance that is danced with the body and feels with the heart”, by Eloi Castilla, and “Photo-Graf-Fiti, art or street vandalism”, by Alfons Campillo.
On the one hand, Kathak is one of the classic dance forms of India. It finds its origins in the nomadic borders of ancient north India known as Kathakas or storytells/storytellers. The name Kathak is derived from the word Sanskrit Katha, which means history.
On the other hand, it is called painted, graffiti or graffiti (the last two of the Italian graffiti, graffi, and this, in turn, of the Latin scariphare, ‘to influence the scariphus’ stylus or punch, with which the Ancient wrote on tablets) to a free painting modality, prominent for their illegality, usually made in urban spaces.
