El Piset – Aeolia Theatre

Co. facófcompany currently formed by Joana Castellanos, Júlia Calzada, Gisela Guitart and Paula Segurapresent their latest work The Piset and this time they do it accompanied by the management ofI Manzanares. Sordid spaces, uncomfortable characters, abrupt sounds and tense silences. The story of fear of a gloomy everyday life will be the main attraction of this thriller marked by a dark and critical humor. The most cruel and ridiculous elements of the real estate sector will take the stage to reveal their most terrifying face.

The company, formed in 2015, has created its own language with a ripped and absurd code that allows dialogue with the viewer. A totally conscious theater, far from innocence, a political space that relies on humor as a distancing element to make the slapstick more portable and fun.

The company has released the pieces In memoriam (2014), Beauty, beauty A deformed cabaret (2016, Aeolia Theatre), Love ³, Shakespeare in mind (2021, El Maldà) directed by Laura Aubert and Goddess of death (2022, El Maldà), directed by Juanjo Cuesta.

Two young women desperate to rent an apartment find themselves at the door of a building. They just met and have an appointment at the same time. Since no one else arrives, the estate agent begins the visit as normal, but little by little, this normality will be compromised. It immediately becomes clear that the apartment will only be rented to a stable couple, so the strangers decide to pretend to be one. The agent shows them rooms and corridors distributed in such a confusing way that the young women suffer because they cannot find the way out. The dirt and darkness seem increasingly dense and the real estate worker, who had initially seemed attentive and professional, now seems to show slight signs of alienation.

Lights fail, noises are heard. There seems to be someone else in the flat. The agent comments that it’s the neighbours’ business, but the girls begin to notice changes in the distribution of objects, strange reflections in the mirrors… until the presence manifests itself. A ghost? But what is a ghost compared to poverty? The girls want to keep the flat and will do whatever it takes to get it, but they won’t be the only ones.
