The historical period we will cover in this talk goes from the Renaissance (15th century) to the 18th century. We will talk about how women were affected by the important changes that took place in Europe towards the end of the 15th century and we will analyze if there really was a Renaissance for women and what was their situation during the so-called Old Regime. What were their rights and what jobs did they have both inside and outside the home.
We will also talk about the outstanding influence of religion and, in particular, the images that religious iconography proposes as a model ideal of woman
