In a society as hierarchical as medieval society, the situation of women depended entirely not only on their gender but also on their position within the estate society. We will talk about the women of more privileged estates, but we will also dwell on the marginalized, often presented as witches, and on those women who had access to culture through convent life and who, despite having great intellectual activity as thinkers and writers, have been silenced.
