Next Tuesday, January 20, at 6:00 p.m., in the Sala de la Caritat of the Biblioteca de Catalunya, the art historian Bernat Puigdollers will deliver the conference “Ramon Llovet, between reality and lyricism”.

This activity will take place as part of the exhibition of a selection of drawings and engravings by the artist Ramon Llovet, offered as a donation by the Llovet family in 2024, and which can be visited in the lobby of the Biblioteca de Catalunya from January 19 to March 4, 2026.

The event will close with the reading of the poem “Breu soliloqui de Ramon Llovet” by Santos Torroella, and the interpretation of the piece “Reflexions sobre la pau” by Carlota Baldrís, inspired by the work of Ramon Llovet. It will be performed by flutist Marina Durany.

Ramon Llovet (1917-1987) is part of that generation of Catalan artists who in the fifties worked hard to renew the artistic atmosphere of post-war Catalonia. He started with a painting of a social type and markedly expressionist. In the mid-1960s, his style moved towards an ethereal painting with spiritual and metaphysical roots. He also experimented with other artistic techniques and became interested in printmaking.

Entry is free with limited capacity.

The event can also be followed by streaming YouTube channel of the Library of Catalonia.
