Next Monday, October 28, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., the conference “Marià Fortuny: the creative drive” will take place in the Sala de la Caritat of the Library of Catalonia, by Francesc Quílez Corella, head of the Cabinet of engravings and drawings from the MNAC and curator of the Year Marià Fortuny.

The commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the death of Marià Fortuny (1838-1874) from Reus is a good opportunity to pay tribute and revisit the work of who was considered the best Catalan painter of the 19th century and the most international of the entire period.

In this sense, the curator of the Marià Fortuny Year, Francesc Quílez, will approach the work of this artist, who has been able to transcend temporal contingency to transform into a symbol of shared universality.
