Next Friday, March 6, 2026, the Library of Catalonia will host the conference “Josep M. Castellet, editor. Around a legacy”. It will take place in the Sala de la Caritat from 9.30 a.m. to 1.45 p.m.
In the framework of lYear Josep M. Castelletthe Institució de les Lletres Catalanes and the Biblioteca de Catalunya plan a half-day of conferences and round tables around the publishing world, and its role in the literary and linguistic sphere.
When he joined Edicions 62 in 1964, Josep M. Castellet found himself in a unique situation: to build, from scratch, a publishing catalog of great significance in the construction of contemporary Catalan culture, and to contribute decisively to establishing a canon of Catalan literature. Thus, through translation, he brought together authors from all over, and gave voice to new literary generations in the Catalan language.
Today, the circumstances in which publishing takes place in Catalonia are very different from those faced by Castellet, but its very important role can still shed light on the current challenges and the action of the various agents in the book world.

- From 10.15 am to 11.45 am: round table “Barcelona: one space and two publishing fields”by Jan Brugueras, Montse Ingla and Pilar Beltran, moderated by Laia Regincós.
- From 11.45 am to 12.15 pm: break
- From 12.15 pm to 1.45 pm: round table “The publishing role in the formation of a Catalan literary canon”by Antoni Furió, Jordi Raventós and Maria Bohigas, moderated by Oriol Magrinyà
