Co -operation seeds for a more resilient Barcelona
On September 30, coópolis was held on the session “Cooperative action for a resilient Barcelona”. Far from being just a day of debate, it became a living space to imagine and share how the city can strengthen itself in the face of global challenges based on collective action.
Among the experiences presented, two shone strongly because of their ability to show that alternatives are already possible and that co -operativism can offer real responses to everyday needs.
The first is theSocial Economy of Santsa cooperative store that promotes the Food sovereignty With local products and short circuits and it serves more than 800 families. In addition to trade, the project incorporates the Distribution with Bicicargoa commitment to sustainable mobility that connects the purchase with neighborhood life without emissions.
The economy also drives measures ofenergy savingfacilitated by being housed in the ground floor of housing cooperatives built with criteria of environmental sustainability and degrowth. It is also part of the Bordeta Energy Communityof which she has been a founding partner, where she has been self -consuming for a year with a 6kW participation, with simple management in the hands of CELB and economic savings, as well as a commitment to local and community energy sovereignty.
The second experience is We are servicesa cooperative that sells services of We are energy (green electricity), while promoting solutions of shared electric mobility by the hand of We are mobility and offers Sustainable Telecommunications across We are connection. The project aims to be a collective first step in advancing decarbonization and showing that it is possible to consume energy, move and communicate more just and respectful of the planet.
The two experiences, with different approaches but with the same spirit, draw a common story: Barcelona can be a resilient city if it rests on the cooperative practices and the strength of the communities. What was experienced in Coópolis is a powerful reminder that transformations are not only from institutions or large infrastructure, but also From projects rooted in the neighborhoods, capable of connecting real needs with specific solutions. Today, more than ever, The city needs these cooperation seeds to continue to grow and multiply. Experiences like Economat and Som Services show that the sustainable and fair future is possible and that adding to the Challenge of decarbonizationwe can amplify the impact of all local small actions.
