Central event of the Rosalia Guilleumas Year / Activities / Visit us / Home
Next Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 6 p.m., the central event of the Library of Catalonia will take place in the Sala de la CaritatYear Rosalia Guilleumas.
The event, led by journalist Laura Sangrà, will begin with the institutional welcome from the general director of Cultural Promotion and Libraries, Xavier Fina. Next, he will have the intervention, on behalf of the family, of Antoni Rubió Guilleumas, son of Rosalia Guilleumas. There will also be a round table with the participation of Assumpció Estivill, retired professor of the Faculty of Library Science and Documentation of the University of Barcelona, and Núria Altarriba, director of the Bibliographic Unit of the Library of Catalonia.
The director of the Biblioteca de Catalunya, Eugènia Serra, will close it and, immediately afterwards, the event will close with a musical piece by the cellist Clara Pouvreau.
Rosalia Guilleumas Brosa (Barcelona, 23 May 1924 – 29 August 2007), graduated in Philosophy and Letters, Romance section, from the University of Barcelona, specialized in the study of Ramon Llull and Jacint Verdaguer. An employee of the Faculty Body of Archivists, Librarians and Archaeologists of the State, she began her profession of library management in Asturias in 1957.
In 1959, she returned to Barcelona, to the Provincial and University Library of Barcelona, of which she was appointed director in 1969. From 1973 she was director of the Provincial Library Service, which included the Library of Catalonia, the Central of popular libraries and the School of Librarians. In these years at the head of the management of the most prominent Catalan library institutions, he stood out for his management marked by an open look to the future and a commitment to modernization.
