Book World 2026 at MACBA | Activity

“I wonder if I shall fall right through the earth! How funny it’ll seem to come out among the people that walk with their heads downward!” This is what Alice asks when she chases the White Rabbit down the hole, in one of the most magical books ever written.

That’s also what we will do in the upcoming Món Llibre 2026, the Barcelona literary festival for children and young people. Use our imagination, go after stories, touch them and dance to them, and who knows if we end up walking with our heads downward. At MACBA we are pleased to open our doors for a family event that has now become a city highlight. For our 30th anniversary celebration, which lasts throughout 2026, and with our way of trespassing the boundaries between reality and fiction, we join the festival with our own family activitiesin a free, open-house day for everyone.

Come participate in activities for different age groups in the space dedicated to the unending world of make-believe stories, as you explore our exhibitions. Poised on the wings of starlings, you will fly over the MACBA Collectioncommemorating 30 years of flight. Entrust yourself to the resilience of poetry and song in the exhibition Prisoners of Loveby Palestinian artists Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme. Travel through the Algerian desert with the twists of Anna Morenoimmerse yourself into the sounds of MACBA square with Edwin van der Heide, or fly with the textile beings of Aurèlia Muñozin advance of this artist’s upcoming solo exhibition, opening in November.

Come with your family to discover how reading is the journey of all journeys, and how an infinite world is hiding down the white rabbit’s hole. The museum is a magical place.
