Artists selected in I AM ABROAD


I AM ABROADthe new European project promoted by Taller de Músics, designed to strengthen the networks of improvised music in the European musical ecosystem, has selected nine artists of free improvisation in Barcelona, ​​Gothenburg and Vienna.

In November, three sessions of improvisation and co-creation took place at the JazzSí Club in Barcelona, ​​Das WERK Wien in Vienna and Musikens Hus y Brötz in Gothenburg. More than 80 improvisers gathered in the three stages to share their creativity and choose to be able to internationalize their artistic proposals with I AM ABROAD between December 2024 and September 2025.

The artists Leonor Falcón, Lidia Facerías, Vasco Trilla, Casey Moir, Mårten Magnefors, Signe Lykkebo Dahlgreen, Avin Ahmadi, Oliver Biedermann and Victoria Kirilova share the satisfaction of meeting in December in Vienna, in March in Barcelona and in September in Gothenburg. They will play together, in addition to entering a professional network that will accompany their entire journey in the professional channels of the sector. The profiles share enormous creativity and long trajectories with a wide variety of artistic projects carried out.

Leonor Falcón
The violinist and violist Leonor Falcón has resided in New York until 2022, where she has had the opportunity to play in jazz, avant-garde, Latin and classical music formations. He has collaborated and performed with artists and bands such as Willie Colón, Akua Dixon’s Quartette Indigo, Sirius Quartet, Camila Meza and the Nectar Orchestra, Arturo O’Farrill AfroLatin Jazz Orchestra, Karl Berger Improvisers Orchestra, OKwarteto, Mimi Jones and the Black Madonna, Aventurine by Linda Oh, Pablo Vergara, Michael Leonhart, Veer Quartet by Sarah Bernstein, Tomeka Reid, Paula Shocron, Cecilia López, among others.

Lidia Facerías
Pianist born in Barcelona and graduated from Taller de Músics ESEM. He has been involved in musical projects of varied styles within the field of modern music, with a natural inclination to approach music through improvisation and freedom. He is an active part of the Barcelona scene in the field of improvisation and jazz, expanding his interests with keyboards and synthesizers. His stay in Nepal during the years 2015 and 2016, collaborating as a teacher at the Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory and with musical projects of local and foreign musicians, has been decisive in his career.

Vasco Trilla
He is one of the most active, versatile and creative drummers on the Barcelona scene and has an outstanding international career in countries such as Brazil, China, Indonesia, Russia, Norway, Poland, Portugal and Germany. He has recorded more than 100 albums ranging from free improvisation, jazz rock to progressive metal rock and ambient music. He has released albums on labels such as Clean Feed Records, Cuneiform Records, No Bussiness, Not Two, Astral Spirits, Klopotec, Fmr records, Fundacja Slucaj, Multikulti Project, Spontaneous Music Tribune, Raw Tonk, Creative Sources. Discordian Records, Gusstaff records, Urpa i Musell, Tripticks Tapes. He has collaborated with prominent artists such as Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Ra Kalam Bob Moses, Mars Williams, Patrick Shiroishi, Elliot Sharp Steve. Swell, Susana Santos Silva, Jasper Stadhouders, among many others.

Casey Moir
Casey Moir is a vocalist who explores the voice in a multifaceted way, combining precision and freedom. Her approach leads her to navigate through a network of choices and sounds, revealing diverse vocal qualities: raw, intricate, bold and subtle. Active in the Swedish and international scene, he directs the experimental ensemble Viva Vocal Ensemble and has his solo project, the 13-member ensemble Été Large, the trio 3 grams and the improvisational duos Bang and Howl and Moir/Coudoux. He has performed at festivals such as CTM Berlin, Now Now Festival and Sound of Stockholm.

Mårten Magnefors
Mårten Magnefors is a versatile drummer and improviser known for his unique ability to explore rhythmic and sonic limits. With experience in both jazz and free improvisation, he is also actively involved in the psychedelic rock scene, where his experimental approach adds a distinctive touch to the genre. Recognized for his creative and spontaneous style, he fosters an intense and conscious dialogue with his fellow musicians, establishing himself as a key figure in the Swedish underground and improvisational music scene.

With a saxophone in hand, his main interest is experiencing the present through intense listening, body awareness and interactive play. Explore movement, stillness and reaching here and now. Based in Gothenburg, Sweden, she is an active artist in the genres of contemporary free jazz and free improvisation.

Avin Ahmadi
The Iranian lute performer, Avin Ahmadi, born in 2004 and based in Vienna, trained at the Tehran Conservatory and is now studying Jazz Improvisation at the Anton Bruckner University. With a solid foundation in Persian music, Avin’s performances combine diverse influences, including jazz and Middle Eastern styles, rhythms and languages. Known for her solo and collaborative work, Avin brings an emotional and narrative approach to each performance, sharing a vivid intercultural musical journey with her audience.

Oliver Biedermann
Trumpeter Oliver Biedermann redefines his instrument by exploring unconventional soundscapes and fusing them with electronic elements. Create a unique fusion of free improvisation and electroacoustic sound art. As founder of the Deep Space Collective and the Vault – Improviser Session in Vorarlberg, he makes music that oscillates between ephemeral melodies, dense drones and organic rhythms, resulting in atmospheric and multilayered soundscapes that challenge traditional boundaries.

Victoria Kirilova
She is a Bulgarian bass player and composer, based in Vienna. His music is a mix of various influences, ranging from contemporary jazz and chamber music to poetry and the rhythms of traditional Bulgarian songs. Graduated from the conservatories of Milan and Vienna, Victoria is the winner of the Start Scholarship of the Ministry of Art and Culture of Austria, the Fidelio Competition and the Premio delle Arti. He has performed in places such as the Florence Jazz Festival, Bergamo Jazz, Jazz in the Park (Bogotá), Medejazz (Medellín), Amman Jazz Festival, A to Jazz Festival (Sofia), BOZAR (Brussels), Konzerthaus (Vienna) and Wenshui Art Hall (Taipei).
