On September 13, at 5 pm, it opens at the Cultural Center Seismógrafo of Porto (Portugal) DO DO DO DESJO INSTITUTEan exhibition on institutional transformations that the Arts Center Holy Monica de Barcelona has promoted in recent years.
Curated by Clara Laguillo and Marina Frean As an assistant curator, the exhibition adopts the archive-exhibition format to exhibit the relational, collective and performative artistic practices developed in the Santa Mònica since 2021. It includes a selection of works already produced that represent the different exhibition cycles of the center, with works of artists such as Joana Moll, Antoni Hervàs, Sofía Montenegro, Agustín Ortiz, Giulia Gumi, Mariona Moncunill, Marina Monsonís, Beth Ferguson, Sara Dean, and collectives like Sindillar, Diska Agitation and the Utopia Ramblas Artists Assembly.
The project takes as a study of Santa Monica to highlight a new way of understanding the cultural institution: open, porous and capable of transforming from the active listening of the artists and the projects that take place there. With this initiative Sismógrafo wants to transfer the experience to the art community of Porto and to open a conversation with the Portuguese institutional context on what it means to be an arts center in the 21st century.
The exhibition will be open until October 31, 2025.
