Next Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 12 noon, the event “Ametller florit” will take place in tribute to Joan Maragall in Sant Gervasi cemetery in Barcelonain front of the poet’s tomb.
This meeting has been held continuously for decades under the auspices of an almond tree that was planted in 1924, near the mortal remains of Joan Maragall, in memory of the poem The almond tree.
The event will be opened by the poet Meritxell Nus, who will read a poem of her own titled The first almond tree.
Poems by Joan Maragall will then be read, followed by the Aglepta Choir, directed by Oriol Castanyer, who will perform songs based on Maragall’s poems.
