Barcelona, September 26, 2025. Albert Arrribas presents at the Free Arts Center of the Joan Brossa Foundation Lilianae #AM, a concert-performance based on the poem Liliana of Apeles Mestres and the popular songs of this multidisciplinary artist from the turn of the 19th century, which can be seen from October 2 to 5. Starring by Griselda Ramon i Alex Jordithe show perverts the codes of “children’s” aesthetics and plunges the audience into a tender and at the same time strange and disconcerting experience about the loss of innocence and the difficulties of fitting into the world.
Understood as a second part of the show Orationibus #SRfrom the Prayers by Santiago Rusiñol, the director and playwright Albert arrives explore this time Lilianathe culminating work of Apeles Mestres in which the poet adopts an apparently childlike tone to wonder about the cycles of existence and the symbolic projections with which we try to decipher reality. In the words of Arribas, it is “a kind of second part of a show that transformed the way I feel and practice the art of the stage. Much more playful, much more tricks, now the two musicians have transformed into gnomes of the Liliana of Apeles Mestres”.
With a format between cabaret and concert, it is the second piece that the singer Griselda Ramon and the pianist Alex Jordi share under the direction of Albert Arribas, and it is the expected return of Griselda Ramon after the good reception ofImaginary operettawhich could be seen in the spring of 2025 at the Joan Brossa Foundation’s Liberal Arts Centre.
A Lilianae #AM these two musicians embody two fascinating and apparently innocent characters who are confronted by the viewer’s gaze and who, as Arribas points out, have “the gift of equally tearing us away from laughter, tears, smiles, suspicions, disbelief, cruelty, tenderness and applause, in a journey that is very difficult to forget.”
With the recovery of this poem and the songs ofApeles MastersArribas wants to highlight the work of one of the most fascinating creators of our cultural heritage. A multifaceted artist, he stood out as an illustrator, poet, playwright, musician and thinker, although his work has been unfairly relegated to the background.
