Adult puppets are claimed in the rhombic
For 11 years the Ateneu Popular 9 Barris organizes the annual Rhumbicadult puppet festival, in which it is the only consolidated appointment of this genre in Catalonia. The proposal is an initiative that is launched from the Ateneo with the complicity of the Puppet Association of Roquetes, the house-workshop of Marionetas Pepe Otal and the Teatre la Puntual.
Between Friday 25 and Saturday, April 26, four companies will go through the Ateneu with their proposals in a new edition of a festival that wants to claim puppets as a very powerful language that can reach all kinds of audiences.
The first show of the Rombic will be the premiere of the artist in residence Maria Solàthat will premiere Real facts On Friday 25 at 8 p.m. This is the first solo show by the creator, a vindicating tragicomedy that talks about what it is like to be an artist from a female perspective. The creator will stay previously seven days in the Ateneo, and is the winner of an open call.
The next day, Saturday 26 at 6:30 pm, will be the turn of Papel saeta from the Aragonese company Javier Aranda. A tragicomedy that invites a theatrical journey where nothing is what it seems. The actor and puppeteer pays tribute to the theater and his essence, reflecting on the role of the performer and his bond with reality. With a great command of manipulation, Aranda will present an intimate and captivating piece.
The same Saturday at 8:30 pm, the stage will host Famous Puppet Death Scenes of the Canadian company Old Trout Puppet. The show presents a procession of the most memorable scenes of puppet deaths, on a journey full of tragedy, irony and beauty. With three manipulators and fifty puppets, this is a proposal that breaks molds with a combination of technical virtuosity, black humor and an amazing sensitivity.
Both Friday and Saturday, the Ateneu will become a meeting space with bar service and a session Pupet pro of the Catalan company Toxic republic.

The Rombic, the Barcelona Puppet Theater Festival, was born eleven years ago as a vindication of this discipline designed, created and staged from the center of the Barcelona periphery. With the aim of becoming an inescapable date for puppet lovers for all audiences, the RIMBIC aspires to be among the most interesting proposals in the cultural field of our country. The program is prepared jointly with reference Barcelona entities in the sector: the Puppet Association of Roquetes, the Casa-Workshop Pepe Otal and the Puppet Theater La Puntual.
