Actua promotes housing for the elderly in Rialp with an innovative coexistence and care project – Ateneu

The cooperative acta member entity of the Ateneu Cooperatiu del Baix Llobregat, has launched a housing project aimed at people over 65 in the municipality of Rialp (Pallars Sobirà). It is an initiative that seeks to offer an affordable and community alternative for dignified aging without loneliness, with the provision of 10 homes of 37 m² designed to promote autonomy and, at the same time, coexistence.

The project has been made possible thanks to a lifetime donation made by the Farrero brothers to Rialp City Council, with the intention of allocating these homes to social uses. The council called a public tender to manage them, which was won by Actua.

After months of intense work, especially to guarantee an individualized electricity supply for each unit, the homes are now operational. Two of the ten flats have already been allocated, and new residents are expected to join them soon.

The homes work with a accessible rental model and extensions that can reach up to 7 years, a formula designed to offer stability and peace of mind to the elderly.

This project represents a clear commitment to social and territorial cooperativismwhich connects the public initiative with the experience of social economy entities to improve people’s quality of life and respond to housing needs with criteria of dignity, sustainability and community.
