A story of magic and friendship

Four years after the curtain rose for the first time, Magic Kids: Great Challenge continues to fill the Teatreneu with a format that has been able to evolve without losing any of its essence. The story revolves around en Magic Pabloa young apprentice who must overcome the challenge proposed to him by Auri, one of the most powerful magicians who have ever existed. To prove that he is a worthy successor, Pablo and his group of friends enter a machine that opens the door to fantastic and surprising worlds. In each universe they will find a situation that will test the value and strength of friendship.

Although the show maintains its original approach, Magic Pablo and his team have been perfecting it function after function: more defined characters, a more refined script, new lights and special effects that grow a proposal that, from the first day, had already connected with the family audience. The result is a more rounded, vibrant and energetic show.

“It’s the same show, but with four years of evolution,” explains Magic Pablo, alter ego of Pablo Barán—. We have been polishing characters, story and effects until we have achieved a version of which we are very proud,” he continues. The result is a show where magic never appears because it does: every trick has a meaning within the story and helps advance the narrative thread. The audience will find a very special combination of great illusions, humor designed for children, theatrical moments that give coherence to the story and dance pieces that make everything flow with rhythm. “It is a format that captivates so much children as well as adults”, he summarizes himself.

The origin of the adventure

Pablo Barán’s story with magic began when he was eight years old, with the typical box that included four tricks and tips to be a magician. That discovery captivated him. During his teenage years he started performing at parties, schools and social organizations, and over time he perfected his shows until they became increasingly ambitious proposals. Shows like Zass, Hollywood or guatequethrough which he has been consolidating his own style.

The last creation, Magic Kids: Great Challengewas born in a moment of crisis. An internal restructuring forced the team to reinvent itself and start from scratch in record time. “In two months we had to create a completely new show”, he remembers. That unexpected challenge ended up becoming an opportunity: the process led them to imagine a more powerful format and to further refine the combination of magic, dance and theater. “We think it ended up being the best show we’ve ever done”, he concludes.
