Balndrau, wild wind | Gencat Cultural Agenda

With a cast headed by Alvaro Cervantes, Bruna Cousin i Marc Martinez, Fernando Trullols is his directorial debut with a shocking and distressing true story that demonstrates love and resilience as engines for survival.

On December 30, 2000, a group of friends set out to summit Balandrau. The sun and good weather accompany the group during the ascent, until, in a matter of seconds, everything changes unexpectedly. A wild wind, known as torb, unleashes the worst storm in the history of the Catalan Pyrenees, a monster of cold, snow and wind that turns the mountain into a death trap. Based on real events, the film is a story of extreme survival, friendship and solidarity that shows how, in the face of the unpredictable, human beings can be as fragile as they are powerful.

Balandrau, wild wind it is both the chronicle of one of the worst tragedies triggered by a meteorological phenomenon in Catalonia and a tribute to the nine hikers who lost their lives and to the technical and volunteer teams who were part of the intense rescue operations over three days and three nights.
