The Keys to Video in the MACBA Collection. Let’s Visit The Act of Filming | Activity
Accompanied by Claudia Segura and Daniel Gasol, we explore three exhibitions that place video at the center of the MACBA Collection.
The Act of Filming: Video in the MACBA Collection presents a new selection from the museum collection through three exhibitions dealing with the moving image from different perspectives and contexts. The tour allows video to be approached as a form of attention to reality, able to document, activate ways of seeing and give visibility to narratives that are often relegated to the fringes of official history.
The visit will feature Claudia Segura – Head of the MACBA Collection and curator of Echoes: Videos Donated by the Han Nefkens Foundation and Pere Portabella: The Committed Gaze – go Daniel Gasol – co-curator of Counter-Information: New Video / Community Video Service. With their guidance, we will explore the keys to interpreting these exhibitions in order to better understand the place of video in the MACBA Collection, as well as its importance in the construction of contemporary artistic and political narratives.
MACBA Thirty
We celebrate Year Thirty of an infinite MACBA that projects the future as a space for review and possibility: of taking up what was left unfinished, updating what needs it and projecting anew everything that can still be transformed.
