Nau Ivanow begins a process of review and transformation of the institution and its practices
Nau Ivanow has started the project Blacken, disable and disguise the Ship Ivanowa process of consultancy and support which aims to critically review our calls, work methodologies and institutional practices from anti-racist, anti-capacitist and trans-feminist perspectives.
This process, driven by researchers and cultural mediators Kha Villanueva and Barby Boustieris part of Nau Ivanow’s commitment to continue transforming itself as a cultural institution and rethink the conditions of access, participation and legitimation that operate within our programs and calls.
The first session, held on June 18, 2026, focused on the axis to blackenwith the participation of Dyonne BoyBrazilian cultural manager, artist and researcher with an extensive background in the development of affirmative policies linked to Afro-Brazilian culture. His experience in processes of historical repair, community action and intergenerational transmission of knowledge has served as a starting point to reflect on the logics of representation, access and exclusion that run through contemporary cultural institutions.
During the coming months, the process will continue to unfold through two more areas of work: disable i transvestite. The project also has a resonance group formed by Ingrid Blanco, I have coming i Rasheed Jalloulwho will accompany the process by providing perspectives from the fields of research, visual arts, artistic practice, activism and institutional criticism.
The project will end with a series of tools and working documents that will include a situated diagnosis of the current calls and programs of the Nau Ivanow and a prospecting strategy aimed at expanding the access of groups historically excluded from cultural circuits.
At Nau Ivanow we understand that institutional transformation is a continuous process that requires listening, self-criticism and the ability to review. This project offers us an opportunity to question the frameworks from which we operate and to move towards a more accessible, diverse and engaged institution.
