Next Wednesday, May 27, at 7 p.m., the presentation of the XXII Jordi Domènech Poetry Translation Award to Marc Rovira will take place in the Sala de la Caritat of the Biblioteca de Catalunya, for the translation of the book by Paul Éluard, Love poetry. The award is organized by Cafè Central Associació Cultural with the support of the Banc Sabadell Foundation.

The handover ceremony will begin with a welcome from the director of the Library of Catalonia, Eugènia Serra. Then, the president of the Cafè Central Cultural Association, Xavier Vidal, and the director of the Banc de Sabadell Foundation, Sònia Mulero, will speak.

Next, Esteve Plantada will read the jury minutes, and the director of the Banc de Sabadell Foundation will present the award to the translator Marc Rovira. There will also be a reading of some poems from the award-winning book.

Professor Samantha Christ will deliver the lecture Translate: make the road a place of hospitality.

This award has been given since 2005 in tribute to the Sabadell poet and translator Jordi Domènech i Soteras. It awards translations into Catalan of books of poetry written in any other language and has an endowment of 6,000 euros. The award-winning works are published in the “Jardins de Samarkand” collection, by Cafè Central publishing house.

Admission is free with limited capacity.
