
imPULS! – Centre Cívic Guinardó
Last April 21, the Espai Jove Boca Nord hosted the first edition of this technical day, with the presentation of dance projects promoted by the public facilities of the Horta-Guinardó District: Civic Center Casa Groga, Civic Center Guinardó, Civic Center Teixonera and Espai Jove Boca Nord.
The initiative was born with the desire to support the creative processes in dance and facilitate the connection between emerging artists and professionals in cultural programming, generating a space for meeting, exchange and projection within the sector.
During the day, six companies linked to the territory presented their projects in front of male and female programmers, as well as other cultural agents. The participating proposals were:
The event led by Nelson Jara, was articulated from the presentation of each company, which combined a stage show of the piece with a brief explanation of the project, favoring a direct and close approach to the different lines of choreographic research.
The day was well received by professionals and representatives of cultural facilities, and generated a space for dialogue and meeting that led to first connections and possible recruitment routes for the participating companies.
From the evaluations received by the people attending, the quality and diversity of the proposals presented, and the agile format of the day, are particularly highlighted.
IMPULSE! it has also emphasized the importance of working in a network from the territory to strengthen the support circuits for emerging creation, contributing to its visibility and professionalization. The day has not only given space to the artists who performed on stage, but has boosted the young talent behind it, with the complicity of the Taller d’Officis de Barcelona Activa, responsible for the technical coverage of the day.
This first edition is part of a line of work shared by the district facilities to strengthen the local cultural fabric and generate real opportunities for developing artists.
The organization values this first experience very positively and is already working on the continuity of the project for future editions.
