+RAIN Film Festival | Gencat Cultural Agenda

The +RAIN International Festival of Cinema and Artificial Intelligencepromoted by Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), will be held between the 14th and 17th of June at the Poblenou Campus of the UPF, at the Theater of the CCCB Center for Contemporary Culture in Barcelona, ​​and at the Filmoteca de Catalunya.

The films presented this year reaffirm the markedly international character of the festival, with a provenance of films that draw a global map of creativity with AI. Europe continues to hold a fundamental weight in the show, with a very important share of films arriving from Germany, France and Italy, while Spain and Catalonia consolidate their role with more than 60 titles.

On a thematic level, +RAIN 2026 becomes a mirror of contemporary social concerns. This year’s works use generative AI not only as an aesthetic tool, but as a mechanism to retrieve collective memory and illuminate the “dark spots” of history and the forgotten that mainstream cinema often ignores.
