Carillon Auditions | Gencat Cultural Agenda

The carillon player Anna Maria Reverté offers two carillon auditions on Thursday, April 23, at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m., to accompany the visit of the open doors at the Palace. In the morning, Reverté interprets a collection of traditional Catalan songs, while in the afternoon the focus is on the melodies of traditional dances, in a tour of Catalan geography.

Audition locations: during the open doors visit to the Palau de la Generalitat and also from the streets of the Gothic Quarter.

The current carillon of the Palau de la Generalitat has 49 bronze bells and weighs 4,898 kilos. This number of bells, which span a tonal extension of four chromatic octaves, gives it the category of concert carillon.

It was built by Petit & Fritsen, from Aarle-Rixtel (Netherlands), and inaugurated on December 21, 1976, a few months before the re-establishment of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
