The triumph of Italian polyphony.

We owe to Pierluigi da Palestrina (1525-1594) the great Italian music of late Renaissance Italy. Beyond the famous Mass for Pope Marcelthe musician left us true polyphonic masterpieces in the form of litanies, antiphons, motets and psalms, some of which will be performed in this concert by La Grande Chapelle. The musical group, with a clear European vocation, brings together excellent musicians from the Old Continent and has specialized in “old” music from the 16th to the 18th century. Its current director, Albert Recasens, is a musician and doctor in musicology and brings together the double dimension of performer and researcher at the service of the repertoire he directs in front of the vocal and instrumental ensemble, created in 2005 and which has been recognized with several prizes and distinctions, in addition to always being greeted positively by the public and critics.
