Shai Maestro presents the cycle of workshops “All About Music”


The Taller de Músics Escuela Superior de Estudios Musicales (ESEM) welcomes a cycle of workshops in charge of Shai Maestrounder the title All About Music.

These workshops offer a space interactive and guided by the students’ questionswhere participants can actively influence the content of each session. The objective is to provide practical tools for the development of musical ideashelping to make clearer decisions in relation to rhythm, harmony, form and interaction togetherand to connect the musical intuition with the structure in a personal and conscious way.

The focus of the sessions is on specific artistic concerns of each studentproviding resources and perspectives that they can apply directly to you instrumental practice, composition and interpretation.

The workshops will be taught in english.

Who is it addressed to?
The activity is mandatory for all ESEM piano students.
Is very recommendable for the piano students of the Taller de Músics School of Music.
The event will also be open as a listener to the rest of the students in the communityoffering the opportunity to learn about this creative process.

Shai Maestro
Shai Maestro is one of the most outstanding contemporary jazz pianists, known for a unique lyrical sound, an advanced rhythmic imagination and a deep narrative sense in improvisation. After ten formative years in New York, Maestro currently resides in Spain, developing an international career as a pianist, composer and band leader, collaborating with artists of various genres.

He began to be recognized worldwide at the age of 19 when he joined Avishai Cohen’s trio, with which he toured extensively and participated in several key recordings. During his decade in New York, he played five years in Ari Hoenig’s band and collaborated with figures such as Mark Turner, Larry Grenadier, Jeff Ballard, Nasheet Waits, Joel Ross and Ben Wendel. Take part in the album Fly by Michael Mayo, nominated for two Grammy awards.

In 2018 he began recording for ECM Records, achieving international recognition for the clarity, atmosphere and emotional depth of his records. Later, he signed with the French label Naïve, where he published his first solo album, Miniatures and Talesan intimate project that combines short composed pieces and reflective improvisations.

Maestro is also a versatile composer, with music for film, classical concerts with orchestra and symphonic works, and has collaborated with flamenco musicians and renowned Cuban artists. In addition, he is an active educator, teaching international masterclasses and working with private students. His last multidisciplinary project, The Guesthousecombines acoustic piano, electronics, field recordings and collaborations with international artists, and will be published in March 2026.
