exhibition "Like stones in the palms, embers and flame"

The work As Stones on Their Palms, Embers and Flame (Com pedres als palmells, brases i flama), – a title inspired by Fadwa Tuqan – explores the intertwining between destruction and stories of anti-colonial resistance, uprising, revolution and political radicalism throughout the Mediterranean. Ruins are not understood here as inert vestiges of the past, but as charged terrains where capitulation and resilience converge. The exhibition brings together four artists whose work addresses these conditions through different and, at the same time, converging strategies: they consider ruins as mnemonic sites and speculative devices, where memory evokes projections of futures beyond the catastrophe; they trace cycles of social ruin in the light of past and present revolutionaries, demonstrating that collapse and germination go hand in hand; they interrogate archeology and archival practice as technologies of domination, disciplines that fabricate legitimacy, monumentalize defeat, and erase insurgent memory.
