SCENE THEATER ITINERARY BDC – CC La Farinera del Clot
Parallel activity within the SCENE BARCELONA CULTURAL DISTRICT CYCLE
theSCENE (Barcelona Cultural District) is a stable circuit of free professional shows that seeks both to bring culture closer to citizens and citizens to culture, with the aim of turning them into active cultural agents. The project holds two editions each year: one in the spring (February-March-April) and another in the autumn (October-November-December).
This year, there is something new and it is that an activity called: THEATER ITINERARY. It’s about discovering the world of puppet theater and objects through emblematic spaces in Barcelona and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, visiting exhibition, research or creation centers dedicated to this discipline.
The activity consists of four independent cultural outings. Although it is recommended to attend all of them to fully enjoy the proposal, you must register for each session separately from the Urgell Civic Center website from Friday February 6.
OUTING PROGRAM:
- Wednesday 25 February, at 6.30 pm, at Espai La Bayka
Meeting point: C/ Buenos Aires, 19, local (08902) – L’Hospitalet de Llobregat
(REGISTER from the Urgell Civic Center website)
At the La Bayka Space you will be able to learn up close how we work with marionettes, objects and different materials. We will take a tour of the workshop, show techniques of living puppets, table puppets and miniature theater (Lambe Lambe), and open a small play space with shadows. The activity will end with a show of objects.
La Bayka is a place where stories are born, an independent space dedicated to performing arts, inhabited by puppets, objects and mysterious mechanisms that invite you to imagine and create. Inspired by the Polish word Bajka: tale, fable, fantastic territory, La Bayka functions as a small artistic factory that promotes research processes, residencies and meetings between creators of various disciplines. As part of the Theater Itinerary, it opens its doors as a creative refuge where stage poetry, play and collaboration give shape to new worlds.
Aleksandra Muchin and Mauricio Riobó found Espai La Bayka, a living workshop where puppet theatre, gesture and matter interact. Aleksandra develops a poetic language from clowning, gestural theater and sensitive work with organic textures; Mauricio provides the oral narration and the synthesis between voice, object and scene.
- Wednesday March 11, at 6.30 p.m., at La Puntual – Putxinellis in Barcelona
Meeting point: C/ Allada Vermell, 15 (08003) – Barcelona
(REGISTER from the Urgell Civic Center website)
The activity will be led by Néstor Navarro, director of the room and member of the company La Puntual, who will teach the participants the process of creating a puppet show. From the initial idea and character design to the final staging. Attendees will also be able to enjoy a live taste of the show “Pipa, the wonder puppet”, where they will see up close the scenography and the technique that brings the characters of the play to life. (Obviously the attendees will also get to know the room, its twenty-year history and the company’s shows).
