Clara Nubiola invites us to explore the mural MACBA Thirty Timelinea visual synthesis of the thirty-year history of the museum.
As part of the commemoration of MACBA’s Year Thirty, the artist will be presenting MACBA Thirty Timelinea large-scale mural. Intended to welcome visitors into the museum atrium, the piece offers a synthesis of all that MACBA has been over the last thirty years: a visual narrative that connects content and exhibitions, key dates and stories, people and ideas from a subjective, open and profoundly relational point of view.
In this activity for MACBA Friends, we immerse ourselves in the piece, accompanied by the artist herself, who will explain all the details and help us to find out at first hand about the work process behind it: commissioned by the museum, Nubiola undertook an exercise in documentation and research, which finally resulted in a composition on a human scale, intended to be read while walking and observing.
An invitation to look at the museum from a different point of view: not as a sum of events, but as a constellation of forms, ideas and experiences that are inter-connected over time.

Clara Nubiola (Barcelona, 1976) focuses her interest on running grassroots artistic projects that enable her to approach the surroundings in which we live from a subjective, critical point of view. The city, the countryside, boundaries, peripheries, town planning are topics she raises in a direct questioning of the landscape based on lived experience on the ground. Using austere tools like walking, ink and paper, she works in different formats that address the citizen in the street directly. Interventions in public spaces, participation processes, exhibitions, workshops and publications placing the spotlight on our immediate surroundings. She has published “Pasea y ojea” (Libros del KO, 2024).
