talk
How do you plan a future expedition to Mars? For future long-duration manned space missions, relying on Earth is unfeasible; that is why it is necessary that they are self-sustaining. The key to achieving this is closing the cycle: turning waste into resources and keeping water, air and nutrients in constant circulation. In this talk we will discover how a closed ecosystem inspired by nature works, with bioreactors, water treatment and food production, and how the MELiSSA (ESA) project prepares technologies for living outside our planet.
