exhibition "pastime"

“Pastime” is a photographic project that originates from encounters with men in their private spaces. What at first seemed like a one-off exercise turns into a consolidated practice that allows the photographer to rehearse, reflect and test his way of looking. Photography becomes the main tool for thinking about topics such as intimacy, desire, memory and boredom. In parallel, the project outlines the story of a character who seeks encounters and intense emotions to reverse the indifference that surrounds him. Promising expectations end up, however, diluted in a flat and repetitive everyday life. Inspired by Lauren Berlant’s flat affect theory, Pastime questions what happens when intensity fades and loses value. You can consult more information about the “Pastime” exhibition on the Can Basté Civic Center website. Last update: 14/11/2025
