The artist José Luis Rey Vila (Cádiz, 1900 – Paris, 1983), better known as Sim, left one of the most vivid witnesses to the drama of the Spanish Civil War, specifically in Barcelona. Within the line of exhibitions and projects dedicated to the conflict, almost a hundred drawings by this artist made during the Civil War, which have recently been acquired by the National Museum, will be exhibited. These are creations of great quality and expression, and which include scenes of great cruelty that show the effects of war in all its magnitude.
