Exhibition “50 years of the Congress of Catalan Culture (1975-1977): the re-establishment of Catalanity”

The Congress of Catalan Culture (CCC) 1975-1977 was a great civic mobilization that goes claim Catalan culture from many areas. It began now 50 years ago at a time of political change, when the end of Francoism was in sight. The precedents for this initiative can be found between 1961 and 1964, when a congress was convened, clandestinely, that already planned to analyze Catalan culture in a broad sense. Several presentations were devised and some were even created, but it was more in the attempt than in the realization.

The basic and fundamental pillar of the Congress, from which the rest was developed, was the language, which became the central axis of all the topics discussed and the common denominator for all areas: science, humanities (literature, art, history, theater), economics, law, education, health, environmental sciences, agriculture, social aspects, politics, religion, etc.
