exhibition "Rutuchicuy and baptism: The welcome to the community"
The exhibition offers an analysis of two rites of passage that, despite having their origin in two different religious universes, currently coexist in a clear example of religious and cultural syncretism. The exhibition transports the visitor to the 16th century and two very distant worldviews: the Andean and the Christian. On the one hand, that of the Andean world, ruled by the Incas, was characterized by a great diversity of gods and the worship of huacas, elements of nature or sacred objects. On the other hand, Christianity was presented as a monotheistic religion, with a unique and intangible god, whose worship was carried out through symbols such as the cross.
