The Barcelona-based creative studio VPM. present ITERATIONS (The Infinite Rhythm of the City), a videomapping work at the Basilica of St Ludmila in Prague, as part of the Signal Festival program
VPM’s project explores the concept of dynamic urban transformationestablishing a dialogue between the geometric rigidity of the neo-Gothic façade and the fluid forms of futuristic architectural structures. Through light, movement and sound, VPM invites the viewer to reflect on the city as a living organismwhere sustainable development is only possible through a conscious integration of nature and urbanism.
The project features an original soundtrack by Julien Chastagnola music producer from the south of France known for compositions that blend melodic electronic music, IDM and jungle. The result is a dreamlike, vibrant soundscape accompanying the metamorphosis of the architectural space.
The Basilica of St Ludmilalocated in Prague’s Vinohrady district, is one of the festival’s most emblematic settings. Built between 1888 and 1892 by the architect Josef Mockerits 60-metre towers symbolize hands joined in prayer, now becoming the perfect canvas for a work that connects past, present and future.
Also in Vinohradythe artist and designer Joseph Poblet present Lux Domusa light installation created specifically for the chapel of the Archbishop’s Secondary School. The title evokes the idea of an intimate, protective space, but also a metaphor for light as an emotional and family refuge.
Lux Domus is not merely an aesthetic installation, but also a sensory and symbolic experience. Poblet proposes an ephemeral architecture of light that enters into dialogue with the functionalist geometry of the chapel designed by Tomas Šašek in 1937, highlighting its proportions, volumes and spiritual dimension. Lux Domus was originally created for the 2024 edition of the Llum BCN light arts festival, curated by Maria Güell Ordis, and was later shown at MUHBA Oliva Artés.
Meanwhile, Playmodes will exhibit their work signs at the Signal Space, within the collective exhibition Echoes of tomorrow. signs is an audiovisual ode to the synchronization of technology with the rhythms of nature. The kinetic imagery it proposes is not mere decoration, but a process — a form of digital biology in constant transformation. Playmodes have designed the machinery, software and audiovisual content from scratch, producing a fluid composition of light and sound that evokes natural rhythms, from ocean waves to the rustling of leaves.
The first presentation of the signs installation took place at the Llum BCN festival, in the 2023 edition, and since then it has traveled to other international institutions such as the Center for International Light Art (Unna, Germany), with support from the Institute.

Trained in both economics and musicand grounded in a family heritage of manual craftsmanship, Joseph Poblet has forged a distinctive career in which light serves as a material of expression, used to explore space, emptiness and movement. He now runs his own studio in Barcelonawhere he integrated research, creation and teaching across design and the visual arts.
Playmodes is an audiovisual research studio based in Barcelona, acclaimed for its fusion of art, technology and narrative. Combining proprietary technologies with open-source tools, it develops immersive installations, projections and digital scenographies that balance innovation with artistic sensitivity. Its multidisciplinary team collaborates with creators around the world and shares its commitment to art and science through lectures and educational workshops.
This is the second consecutive year that Signal Festival has featured Catalan creators with the support of the Institut Ramon Llull. Last year, Desilence, an artistic duo based in Barcelona, presented The Rhythm of the Ocean.
