Bajo the title Happy Placethe third edition of the Biennial of Freiburg It will be held from June 5 to Julio 27, 2025 in various spaces of the city, and will be commissioned by Lorena Juan, artistic director of this edition. The project will unfold as much in consolidated institutions as in independent spaces and public spaces.
With the participation of Irene de Andrés, Agnes Essonti Luque and Claudia Pagès Rabal, the Catalan visual crafts will be represented by three prominent voices of the current artistic landscape.
Irene of Andrés (Ibiza, 1986) will exhibit their audiovisual work Prayer. To Complex Destinationwhich in El Año 2018 transfers the 5th Production Scholarship to the Video Creation DKV-ES Baluard. Claudia Pagès Rabal (Barcelona, 1990) will present Aljubs and groupsan audiovisual piece presented by the first one in Barcelona. Be the circulation of the water, Pagès focuses on two aljibes (the Aljibe de Montsant and the Cuatro Aljibes de Játiva) to create an analogy between the cisterns of water and the whole. This project understands the cocina as the capacity of experimenting, as a network of connections and “posibilidades de”, as well as the stories that are to be told through the process. For Ello, Essonti work with photographs, objects and ingredients, as well as with text, generate this confluence of organic and inorganic elements. The result emphasizes the power that each one of these elements has when defining identities, history and community.
Her Biennial of Freiburg It is a platform dedicated to contemporary art in the city of Freiburg. In stress, the artists invited and local agents, are developed new works and formatted specifically pensados for the biennial, who do direct reference to the city and coexist in an experimentation field. Of this modo, the biennial offers the new perspectives on the city and its reality.
