
Great final season of Angels Margarit at the Mercat de les Flors
The 2025-2026 season of the Mercat de les Flors is loaded with meaning. Will be the last under the artistic direction ofAngels Margaritwhich closes a stage of almost a decade at the helm of the Center for Creation and Dance Exhibition of reference in Catalonia. The season will start with Fablea own production of Roser López Espinosain which eight dancers build a universe full of fantastic creatures that celebrates the strength of the collective. The same creator will present Cometa family proposal aimed at children from 6 to 10 years old that exemplifies the educational and transversal vocation of the market.
One of the distinguishing features of the new season is the commitment to the great international formats. Prominent names will pass as the Lorraine balletwith a double program led by Maud Le Pladec and the piece Folia by Marco da Silva Ferreira, which combines urban dance with baroque music; her Dresden Frankfurt Dance Companywith pieces of William Forsythe and Thomas Hauert; and the Dance Dance Theaterdirected by Marina Mascarellthat will offer Bloody Moon and a reinterpretation of Tonging. A new stage
The season also coincides with the start of a new stage. Margarit recalled that his term has crossed “a pandemic and six directors”, and that the center is now preparing for a structural transformation: the integral rehabilitation work will begin in 2027 and will leave the inoperative rooms for two years. Until July 2026 the usual activity will be maintained, but from then on, the new direction – which will be made public shortly – will have to activate new strategies to keep the programming out of the building alive.
