“Imagine the world that needs”, by Miguel Brieva
Imagine the world that we need
Through this exhibition, the Festival Festival wants to bring to the public the work of an artist whom we consider a mirror to look.
Through humor, satire and sarcasm, Miguel Brieva uses comics as a tool with which he questions the status quo in which we live and takes advantage of this artistic language to escape the interests of economic powers. Some interests that, unfortunately, condition the stories prevailing in other media, such as the press, cinema and television.
His career is an inspiration to believe in another future. A journey that starts from a scathing critique of consumer society, dominant economic-religious fanaticism and structural stupidity, and more recently the claim of our capacity to create an alternative narrative to capitalism.
As the same author states:
“ I think the appearance of stories that obviate prevailing cynicism and growing cultural degradation and dare to dream of a possible and better life with courage, and to project it from beauty and emotion, it can function as a snowball that rolls down the mountain until it becomes unsuspected large and unstoppable. ”
