"Out of frame"

The “la Caixa” Foundation has acquired two audiovisuals for its contemporary art collection that allow an unpublished approach to Goya’s black paintings and the Rembrandt night round. The joint exhibition responds to a look at the art of the past through the interaction with the public. Night Watching, by Rineke Dijkstra, is a video installation that records the comments of various people while watching Rembrandt’s night round. There are those who link this painting with their own life or examine it in the historical context of art. On the other hand, the immersive film The Fifth of the Deaf, by Philippe Parreno, takes us to the house where Goya created his black paintings, recreating a space that no longer exists.
