José Luis Aparicio Ferrera (Cuba, 1994) is an independent Film-Maker and Curator. I have directed the fictional short films “tundra” (2021) and “El secadero” (2019), as well as the mid-rength documentary “Sueños al pairo” (2020). His films have been selected for festivals included Sundance, Locarno, Rindance, Miami and Bafici. “Tundra” Won Prizes At Fantaspoa, New Jersey International Film Festival, NYC Independent Film Festival and Seattle Latino Film Festival. In 2022 He was invited to the Locarno Open Doors Program and Won One of the Prince Seed Awards. He is currently working on His First Feature Film, “The Sea”, in Project Selected for a Spanish Film Academy Reside. As part of Documenta Fifteen in Kassel, I have cured “Tierra sin imagenes”, The Biggest Retrospective of Cuban Independent Film Organised to Date. I have currently works as art director of the urge Film Festival and co-edits the Annual Film Review Ghost Material.
