Inauguració exposició Vivir bien, Morir bien. 6 de febrer a les 19h – Centre Cívic Guinardó
February 7 to March 28
Based on the idea that we do not receive enough pedagogy about our own death or how to deal with the death of nearby people, this project proposes to expand their knowledge of funeral rituals and the management of cemeteries in different parts of the world. The result of this process seeks to imagine new practices that allow us to evade the funeral industry and reduce the ecological footprint and, at the same time, to restore the links between human beings and natural cycles. To do this, the artist presents a series of works and activities that include conferences, offering workshops and photographic walks in the neighborhood cemetery.

In a world, every more globalized vedad, it is fascinating to observe how rituals, beliefs and deaths related to death vary greatly between countries, even within western societies that apparently have a greater homogeneity.
The artist Nathalie Rey has been investigating this in depth subject for years, will focus his lecture on the funeral practices of 4 countries where he lives and works: France, Spain, Germany and Turkey. Through an approach that combines recent economic and scientific data, Rey will invite the public to reflect on the evolution of our funeral customs and new trends towards more personalized, intimate and sustainable ceremonies.
This talk is part of his exhibition “Live well, die well” and proposes not only a comparative look, but also a space for dialogue and exchange of ideas. It will be an event to question how we say goodbye to our loved ones and how these practices reflect our relationship with life and death.

-Exploring the Poblenou cemetery: photography and dialogue about funeral rituals
By Nathalie Rey
Saturdays 15 and 22 March 11h. at 1pm.
Prior registration is required – Free Activity
Within the framework of the exhibition “Vivir bien, die well”, the historian Adrià Terol and the artist Nathalie Rey propose an activity that combines a guided tour and a photographic walk through the Poblenou cemetery. This route will discover not only its history and architectural characteristics, but also to appreciate its particularities as a plastic and symbolic space.
The visit to the cemetery will serve as a starting point to reflect on our funeral rituals and their evolution. In a second session, there will be a viewing of photographs taken by the participants, generating a space for dialogue around the funeral practices and the role of cemeteries in our relationship with death.
