03/20 – 19 h. Inauguration: Provisional Territory of Xavier Mamano

From March 20 to May 3, 2025.

A project of Xavier Mamano.

Between Gavà and Castelldefels, forests and fields unfold in the territory. Now for whom, now there, some isolated construction, or only its trail. A territory that has a provisional character. According to planning, 27% of the area will be transformed into residential buildings. These photographs are a look at the time before possible change.

The set of images, beyond a sum of anecdotes, aim to transport inside this space. Feel the heat, the cold, the threat of rain, the wind among the trees, the night it comes.

The exhibition aims to invite to reflect on the contrast of progress and conservation. The pictures do not show the change that sooner or later will come. But transformations that had already affected the territory, farmhouses, demolished industrial buildings, abandoned quarries are seen. And all over the hand of nature, which patient and steady, step by step, is again recapturing land.
